All deli counters at Long Island Stop & Shops are back in business following a nationwide listeria outbreak that forced their closure this week. A national recall was issued for Boar’s Head meat on Friday due to the outbreak that caused two deaths in New Jersey and Illinois. Local Stop & Shop delis removed thousands of pounds of meat from their shelves and performed deep cleanings. News 12 spoke to shoppers after the widespread cleanup efforts.

Police: 47-year-old man fatally stabbed in Brownsville•Jul 20, 2024, 6:25 PM•Updated 2 min agoPolice are asking for the public’s help locating the suspect responsible for fatally stabbing a man Saturday in Brownsville. They say a 911 call brought officers to the scene of an assault in progress on the corner of Hedgeman Avenue and Mother Gaston Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found 47-year-old Noel Williams covered in multiple stab wounds to his cheek, arm and left thigh.

NYPD: Cyclist seriously injured in Claremont hit-and-run•Jul 20, 2024, 6:25 PM•Updated 3 min agoThe NYPD say a cyclist was seriously injured in a hit-and-run Friday in Claremont. The crash occurred just before 10:30 p.m. on Claremont Parkway and Fulton Avenue when an SUV struck the victim. The crash caused the cyclist to fall off their bike and left them with severe injuries to his head, according to officers. The cyclist was hospitalized in critical condition.

A shooting and two stabbing incidents occurred within six hours on July 8, Atlantic City police say. The first stabbing occurred during a fight between two men on Tennessee and Atlantic avenues. Officers say they responded to the scene at around 8:30 a.m. The suspect, James Knight, was later arrested. At around 9:13 a.m., police were also called to another fight involving several people on Pennsylvania and Arctic avenues. Authorities say Isaiah Byrd was arrested for stabbing a resident in the fight.

A 29-year-old Jersey City resident accused of stabbing a man Saturday at the American Dream Mall is facing multiple charges, police say. Officers responded to a call at the mall parking garage at 11 p.m. and found a 28-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. Authorities say the victim was hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Police say they arrested Raquan Howard at the scene of the incident.
