Town Manager Rodney C. Collins was chosen as the new chairman of the Mashpee Charter Review Committee this week. The committee made the selection at its meeting on Monday, January 13. The move comes after member John Miller resigned from his position as chairman in December. Mashpee’s Health Department and Human Services Department are working together to start a behavioral health program for the town called Behavioral Health 360. Health Agent Zachary Seabury spoke about the program at the Mashpee Board of Health meeting on Wednesday, January 15. “It’s an online program that we’re hoping to get set up in the town,” he said. Behavioral Health 360 is designed to provide local resources to communities.

Mashpee Health Agent Zachary Seabury announced this week that the health department is looking to hire an assistant health agent and an additional board member. The announcement, made at the Mashpee Board of Health’s meeting on Wednesday, comes after former board member Edward Raposa resigned. “We do have an opening for a chair on the board, so hopefully we’ll get someone there,” Mr. Seabury said.

Mashpee residents have likely taken notice of the restaurant Freshroll at the Mashpee Farmers Market, at town events such as Oktoberfest, or at its new location at Mashpee Commons. What they cannot see, though, is what lies behind the scenes: owners Channa and Chhay Chou, a couple who use their business to help feed the town’s hungry. Mr. and Ms. Chou, originally from Cambodia, keep printed receipts in front of the restaurant’s cash register for customers to see.
