Being a Harry Potter fan, this hashtag completely had my attention and has convinced me to share my so-called rebellious acts!I had been a good girl from the start, studying, focussing on grades and importantly, staying away from boys. Why is talking about menstruation considered a taboo even in this day and age? We worship female Goddesses and yet, a menstruating female is not allowed to enter a place of worship when she is on her period!Even though I am a doctor and come from a family of doctors, it took me 30 years to openly tell my father and brothers whenever I am on my period. If we hesitate to tell this to even family, then what of work colleagues?

I recently saw a women-centric and heartwarming web series on Amazon Prime titled ‘Sweet, Karam, Coffee’. It is short, eight-episode, single-season series created by Reshma Ghatala (of ‘Queen’ series fame). The story is of three women who live under the same roof – a housewife, her daughter and mother-in-law, along with her son and husband, in a typical upper middle class family in Chennai, who decide to embark on a road-trip together.

India, April 5 -- When someone asks, 'What's in a name?',The answer that comes to my mind is, 'Identity.'A person's name is one of the prime aspects of his or her identity, an indelible part of who they are. Since surname is a part of the name, does it not add to the identity too? This begs whether it is therefore acceptable to ask a woman to change her surname after marriage. Why was it practised?
