    With the Hypercar class at Le Mans continuing to go from strength to strength, three new teams are set to join the fray over the next two years – Genesis in 2026, followed by Ford and McLaren in 2027. All have taken the opportunity of the 2025 running of Le Mans 24 Hours this past weekend (June 13-14) to provide updates on their progress. Racing under the Magma Racing sub-brand, Genesis will use an Oreca chassis in its LMDH hypercar, which is well on its way to track testing.

    The ACO has revealed that Oreca and Ligier have been awarded the tender to supply the next generation of LMP2 chassis, due to be introduced in 2028. Gibson will supply a new, turbocharged engine. Details are currently sparse on the technical specifications of the new cars, though it is suggested that they will be marginally larger in all dimensions than the current cars, introduced in 2017.
