The 2024 Relay For Life Carnival for a Cure took place on Nov. 17 on Alumni Lawn to celebrate the organization’s 14th year anniversary. Founded in 2010, Relay For Life is a student organization dedicated to supporting cancer research, raising awareness and fostering hope for a cancer-free future. The event featured food, activities and music while attendees honored cancer survivors and their journeys.

Vanderbilt Student Government announced its joint nonpartisan initiative with the 15 other student governments in the Southeastern Conference to increase civic engagement among students. This initiative is the first of its kind and comes after Tennessee implemented new laws impacting voter registration in the upcoming elections. Students from out of state must now complete a paper voter registration form in order to vote in Tennessee.

She is the author of the 2024 Campus Reading, “I Never Thought of It That Way,” which addresses the divides present in modern-day politics and offers strategies to engage in difficult conversations. The Hustler sat down with Guzmán after the Lawson Lecture to discuss her intentions with the book and potential implications for college students in an election year.

While hiring is underway, an external pre-health advising company is assisting pre-health students. 2 minutes ago The Health Professions Advisory Office lost two of its advisors in August, leaving only one HPAO Advisor, Chris King, to assist undergraduates applying in the upcoming 2025-26 medical school application cycle. To accommodate its staff shortage, HPAO will hold walk-in hours each week to answer students’ questions.

Campus Dining announced several changes to meal offerings for the 2024-25 school year on May 6. These changes will take effect in Fall 2024 and include extended hours at Rand Dining Center, three new dining locations and updated meal plans. Additionally, some residential dining halls will be closed for dinner on Friday and all day Saturday. Custom smoothie bowls and pizza will be available at Rand Dining Center, while the new Oliver C. Carmichael College will get its own European-style café.
