Pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum) clones were maintained on tic bean (Vicia faba minor) as described in [26]. Parental genotypes were PS01 and N116. PS01 is a biotype adapted to Pisum sativum whereas N116 is adapted to Medicago sativa [26]. Reciprocal crosses were made between PS01 and N116 to generate F1 hybrid populations, following the protocol of [27]. In brief, parthenogenetic females were induced to generate sexual forms by transfer to short days and lower temperatures to simulate autumn.
