The Dalton Police Department has identified the victims in a double murder-suicide that also took the life of an unborn child. The women killed were Rebeca Akins and Cindel Rhoden. Rhoden had two daughters and was five months pregnant at the time of her death. Police say Kevin Akins shot and killed his wife, Rebeca Akins, at her apartment on Murray Avenue before driving to Shadow Lane, where he fatally shot Rhoden, his girlfriend, at her apartment and then turned the gun on himself.

It’s been 10 days since a water outage disrupted service for parts of Bledsoe and Van Buren counties. While the situation is improving, residents are still under a boil water advisory. Fall Creek Falls Utility District reports that water service has been restored to about 90% of the roughly 1,900 households it serves. However, utility officials say it may take a few more days before water is fully safe to drink without boiling.
