The pressure on Ange Postecoglou's shoulders is mounting. With every passing game it seems like the Australian is getting closer to the sack. Spurs were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night - their 16th defeat of the Premier League season. They are closer to the relegation zone than the top five and only the three teams at the bottom being so poor has stopped them getting dragged into a relegation battle this season.

It just does not get any better for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur. Another trip to Stamford Bridge, another defeat. That's 16 defeats in 30 Premier League games this season - a truly abysmal statistic. Postecoglou's job as Spurs head coach is hanging by a thread. You have to think that the only reason he has not been sacked is because of the Europa League quarter-final coming in the next two weeks.

Mikel Arteta may have to do without Jurrien Timber for the foreseeable future. Ange Postecoglou knows he is under pressure at Tottenham. With Spurs 14th in the Premier League table, everything rests on the Europa League this season. Spurs take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals, with the first leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Thursday, April 10. Progression to the semi-finals and final and lifting the trophy may be the only things that will keep the Australian in a job, given the season Spurs have had.

David Moyes and Mikel Arteta go way back. The Spaniard was Moyes' captain at Everton and the pair have a long-standing friendship. Speaking in 2023, Arteta said: "It’s more than respect, I think it’s admiration. I loved playing under him. I would have gone through a brick wall for him when he was my manager, as everybody would in that squad.

I'm not at the game and couldn't watch it as I'm away on holiday and for some reason the hotel I'm at couldn't show different matches despite loads of screens, but these stats, against potentially the worst ever PL side, are deeply concerning #thfc #coys https://t.co/fs3Hd6alH1

I think it's time to go #thfc #coys https://t.co/Jq1AiYGqHk

VAR can get in the bin. That's rubbish. #CHETOT
