South Korea's constitutional court has held its first hearing to decide if suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol should be removed from office after his shock martial law attempt last month. It ended within four minutes because of Yoon's absence - his lawyers had earlier said he would not attend for his own safety, as there is a warrant out for his arrest on seperate charges of insurrection. In December, Yoon was suspended after members of his own party voted with the opposition to impeach him.

South Korea's suspended president Yoon Suk Yeol will receive his annual pay rise despite his impeachment for briefly placing the country under martial law, the government has said. Yoon's salary will increase by 3% to 262.6 million won ($179,000; £147,000), in line with the standard for government officials. Since his impeachment in December, Yoon has resisted attempts to investigate and arrest him for alleged insurrection and abuse of power, placing the country deeper in political turmoil.

Koh Jae-hak can still vividly remember when he saw soldiers gunning down a group of young women in cold blood. It was April 1960. Students had launched protests calling for the resignation of the dictatorial president Syngman Rhee. Mr Koh was working in a government building when he looked out of the window and saw protesters clashing with police. Le siguió una segunda imagen con la misma foto, sólo que esta era sexualmente explícita y falsa.
