Two people are facing charges after police seized drugs from a home in Little Pond, N.S.Cape Breton Regional Police says officers searched a home on Little Pond Road on Wednesday. When officers arrived, the force says one person tried to run. That person was found in the woods behind the house with the help of a K9 team and was arrested. Police in Nova Scotia continue to seek answers from the public into the shooting death of a 36-year-old man that happened one year ago. Halifax Regional Police received a report that a man was shot near the 1100 block of Downey Road in North Preston just before midnight on May 8, 2024. The victim, Tyrell Beals, of Westphal, N.S., was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Nova Scotia’s primary care waitlist went down by more than 2,000 people over the last month. There were 91,474 people on the Need a Family Practice Registry as of May 1, according to Nova Scotia Health. The health authority says 2,208 people in total were attached or removed as a result of ongoing validation work that confirmed they have a health-care provider. The percentage of the province’s population still on the registry is 8.6 per cent. Last month, there were 93,682 Nova Scotians on the list.
