After more than five months of closure due to the Palisades Fire, the Getty Villa Museum in Pacific Palisades is set to reopen to the public on Friday, June 27. The museum, modeled after a Roman country house and home to a collection of Greek and Roman antiquities, has been closed since January 7, since wildfire threats forced an emergency shutdown.

A sweeping proposal to raise the minimum wage for tourism workers in Los Angeles is facing sharp from some of the city’s top hotels just three years before it hosts the 2028 Summer Olympics. On Friday, the L.A. City Council voted for a second and final time in favor of an ordinance that would gradually raise the minimum wage for hotel and airport workers to $30 an hour by July 2028. The measure passed an initial vote on May 14, though not unanimously. It now goes to Mayor Bass' desk for approval.

On Thursday, Senate Republicans voted 51–44 to block California’s effort to ban the sale of gas-powered cars by 2035, a cornerstone of the state’s push to reduce pollution. Michigan Democrat Elissa Slotkin, whose state is home to the U.S. auto industry, was the sole Democrat to vote with Republicans. Three Republicans and two Democrats did not vote.
