Little is known about pregnancies among cardiology fellows in training (FITs). While radiation badges are available to monitor exposure during pregnancy, among surveyed cardiology FITs in 2010, only 60% used radiation badges to monitor exposure, and 23% knew their radiation exposure.1,2 To better understand the contemporary experience of pregnancy during cardiology training, we administered a voluntary survey.

As a neonatologist, I can count on both hands the times I was, undoubtedly helpfully, informed during sign-out that this particular patient had a “difficult parent.” Undoubtedly helpfully, I like to think, because either the previous physician, or nurse, or secretary, or respiratory therapist had an encounter with the parent that somehow altered their expectation of what their workflow would be like that day.

That was the unifying theme of this year’s International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) meeting. Held April 10–13 in Prague, the 44th Annual Meeting brought together international experts in pediatric and adult cardiology, pulmonology, anesthesiology, and cardiothoracic surgery.
