On average, 11 drowning deaths occur every day in the United States, based on 2012-202 statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Drowning is also the most common cause of death for children ages 1-4. While children are at a particularly high risk, anyone of any age can drown and in a variety of situations.
