4 DISCUSSION This longitudinal nation-wide survey shows that in long-term TCSs, regular and maintained PA according to the WHO recommendation (10-20 MET-h/wk) halved the risk of overall mortality 20-year postsurvey compared to physically inactive. PA beyond the WHO recommendation did not further reduce the risk of death. In the subsequent survey, about 20 years after treatment, even the low active TCSs significantly reduced the mortality risk by more than 60%.
