The South African Police Service (SAPS) has taken steps towards tackling criminal activities in the crime-ridden Barberton area in Mpumalanga. Deputy Minister of Police Cassel Mathale is leading a crime prevention campaign in the area that is battling with gangsterism and gun attacks amongst others. It is reported that the gangs in Barberton have now shifted their focus to recruiting school learners. Mathale has engaged with learners in the area at the Kamhola High School in Umjindini.
