Reception to be held at gallery By Leslie Gartrell NEW BREMEN - A new exhibit at Art Source Ohio will invite viewers to self-reflect with a collection of abstract multimedia paintings and conceptual glass sculptures. "Beneath the Surface" will feature the work of Gregory Price and Jimi Gleason and will kick off with a reception party from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at the gallery, 647 West Monroe Street, where the artists will be available to meet with guests.

The huge mound will be monitored for 30 years By Leslie Gartrell CELINA - There are no plans for the Celina Sanitary Landfill for the foreseeable future, according to an Ohio Environmental Protection Agency official. During an Ag Education series presentation on Thursday evening, OEPA engineer Edward O'Loughlin said there has been no word on how or if the landfill will be used in the future. The landfill, owned by Republic Services, has been closed since 2021.

By Leslie Gartrell CELINA - Six families who currently have or have had children enrolled at Victorum Learning Center spoke with The Daily Standard about their thoughts and experiences with the daycare center. The parents agreed that abuse and misconduct is inexcusable and that the center would benefit from additional oversight, accountability and communication. But the agreements largely stop there. Many parents whose children no longer go to the daycare believe the center should be shut down.

By William Kincaid CELINA - Police officers will begin ticketing drivers spotted using cellphones illegally come Oct. 5, Celina Police Chief Tom Wale told Celina Rotarians this week. Ohio's new distracted driving law, aimed at curbing needless traffic injuries and deaths, took effect April 4. Officers have since been issuing warnings but will start cracking down on violators with potentially costly citations, in less than two months.
