There is a big switch up in our weather pattern as we head into the weekend, as an area of low pressure tracks along the Washington/Oregon border, bringing with it a chance of showers and thunderstorms for the northern mountains Friday as well as gusty winds 25-35 mph (some in central Washington could see gust to 40-45 mph). Daytime highs will be in the low 70s to wrap up the work week and kick off Summer, with overnight lows in the low 50s.

A system lingering off the gulf of Alaska will keep the threat of pop-up showers and isolated thunderstorms in the forecast for the Canadian border and along the northern mountains through the weekend. Otherwise, as we are expecting mainly sunny skies with daytime highs into the low to mid 80s through Saturday and Father's Day Sunday.

High pressure will continue to strengthen throughout the weekend, driving daytime highs up into the 90s and triple digits for most through the start of this next week. Excessive heat advisories and watches are in place through Tuesday for much of central, southern and eastern Washington, as well as north and central Idaho. Campers be mindful of campfires, making sure that they are never left unattended and are fully put out before leaving your camp site.
