I don’t need them anymore, I’ve reached the point in the project—only seven years in!—where I actually know what I want to say and how I want to say it.

But that was a derogatory term, along the lines of “filthy heathen.” I doubt the pagans used it to describe themselves. But then what word did they use?

    I’ve seen other writers do this, where they post a kind of broad-spectrum update on where all their various projects are at, and I always find it voyeuristically fascinating. And also a bit envy-making, when I see all the stuff that other people have goin’ on.
