During the intermittently drizzly afternoon on Saturday, May 24, a crowd gathered around the historic Mount Gretna Playhouse to watch the unveiling of a 12-foot bronze sculpture, complete with water and lighting features. The Mount Gretna Arts Council unveiled the Guardian of the Arts, a permanent installation designed by artist Cory Wanamaker and enhanced by landscape artist Ryan Fretz, commissioned and donated by the Mim Enck Charitable Foundation.

At 6 p.m. Saturday, May 10, Annubis Productions will premiere This is Why I Believe, a documentary that captures 25 locals’ reasons for believing in God, at the Allen Theatre. Erik Soulliard, owner of Annubis Productions and director of This is Why I Believe, spoke with LebTown about what inspired the feature-length documentary. Soulliard was raised in the church, turned 18, and walked away from religion for a time.

Lebanon Rescue Mission shared its vision for Agape Safe Haven with the Lebanon community through the open house on Thursday, May 1. Lebanon Valley College will host a student jazz orchestra concert on Thursday, May 1, and a faculty jazz orchestra concert on Friday, May 2, showcasing the teaching of guest artist Alan Ferber, a Grammy-nominated jazz trombonist and composer. Dr. Justin Morell, professor of music at LVC, became friends with now-New York-based Ferber during their time in Los Angeles.

Lorraine F. Klepper, 70, of Lebanon, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. She was the wife of the late Ronald R. Klepper. Born in Providence, RI, on Oct. 27, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Cooke Sr. and Gertrude (Glynn) Cooke. Lorraine worked as a waitress for Schwalm’s in Cleona. Following retirement, she worked part-time in the kitchen at the Lebanon VFW.

Enough Is …, a story by Lancaster County native Jessica Whipple that teaches children the difference between wants and needs, is on display now through the end of April on the Myerstown Community Library’s StoryWalk at Myerstown Community Park. Library director Sarah Bair told LebTown that back in the spring of 2024, “a faithful patron of the library,” who, Bair added, met the Enough Is … author at an event, recommended the children’s book be featured on the library’s StoryWalk at the park.

The first annual Myerstown carnival is set to open on Wednesday, May 21, and run through Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, at Myerstown Community Park. Daniel R. Ebling, president of the Elmer C. Ebling Memorial Charity and event organizer for the first annual Myerstown carnival, told LebTown about the free-admission event, which is one of many community events made possible — in whole or in part — by the charity.
