South Australian electronic duo Zaachariaha Fielding and Michael Ross headed to Sweden to represent Australia at Eurovision… and lost. But not in my mind. Despite annual confusion over Australia’s presence at Eurovision, it’s still an immensely exciting event. And this year was particularly exciting, with Electric Fields’ expansive dance track ‘One Milkali (One Blood)’ sung partly in Yankunytjatjara, making it Australia’s First Nations heritage debut at Eurovision.

So you’re walking along, everything’s normal, your favourite Disney princesses are white. Then one day… boom. They aren’t. What do you do? Does this situation sound familiar? It may have happened to you — over and over again — in the past. But most recently, it probably happened to you if you love Rapunzel. Fans have been hyping up various actors who they’d love to see as Rapunzel in a hypothetical live-action adaptation of Tangled for years. Florence Pugh was a fan fave. Dove Cameron was another.

I don’t know what it says about us as a nation, but we know indie horror. Written, directed and edited by Australian brothers Colin and Cameron Cairnes, Late Night with the Devil is a delightfully creepy twist on the classic exorcism genre, presented as old tapes from a late 70s talk show. Even if you’re not one for horror movies, the way Late Night with the Devil plays with the medium and genre makes for a super fun watch that’s not intolerably terrifying, but still damn spooky.
