An emaciated Staffy puppy was found by a member of the public dumped in Brackley Park by the Hornsea rail line. The RSPCA is appealing for information after the white female Staffy, thought to be around nine months old, was found on April 25, 2025. She was so skinny that her body condition score was just one out of nine; a healthy dog should score four out of five and she also had an untreated mass.

I was invited last week to attend Castle Howard’s major renovation of its historic interiors and let’s just say it was a sight to behold. Despite the disappointing cloudy weather, the exterior view of the stately home took my breath away. The event included the unveiling of its lost Tapestry Drawing Room, which has been restored to its original 18th century glory for the first time since the catastrophic fire in 1940.

The volunteers working to make improvements for Northern customers at Bentham station in Yorkshire have come together to celebrate 175 years since its opening. Passengers have been travelling to and from Bentham station since it opened in May 1850 and it remains a popular stop on the scenic Bentham line, which runs between Leeds and Morecambe.

Viewers of this week’s episode of The Yorkshire Vet will see Julian Norton learn how to paint by a Yorkshire-based artist, Lucy Pittaway. Of all the many animal challenges that Julian has faced in 10 years and 200 episodes of popular Channel 5 series, this was considered his most daunting.

Glasgow has been named Great Britain’s most in-demand city for people looking to buy their first property.
