On Jan. 29, University of Arizona President Robert C. Robbins, held a forum to announce the next steps of their financial action plan, which aims to correct the expected budget shortfall of $177 million. Robbins announced that the university will be “rightsizing” college and division budgets, “restructuring” administrative costs and “centralizing” certain functions, among other steps to balance the budget, in a letter to the campus today.

A TEACHER who moved to an extremely remote community in the Alaskan Bush has saved thousands in the process. Taryn Williams packed up and relocated to the tiny village in 2020. Now she’s living her dream in Perryville, Alaska, about 500 miles from Anchorage, reported. The village with a population of less than 100 people is surrounded by mountains and water. It’s not connected to the nation’s road system, but it can be reached via a three-hour plane ride from Anchorage.

Storied auction house Sotheby’s reported on Monday that sales had dipped last year to $7.9 billion, down $100 million from the record-breaking 2022 which was lifted by pent-up demand following the pandemic. The $7.9 billion total for 2023, which includes everything from art auctions to classic car sales, is down 0.8 percent from the previous year, but up 40 percent up on 2019, the last year before the pandemic hit.
