The program, operated by the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners, offers college students the opportunity to register to be an election judge, even if they aren’t a permanent resident of Cook County, by registering with the address of their dorm or apartment.

Former employees of the Rogers Park Insomnia Cookies location have gone on strike after allegedly being forced to remain open by corporate level management after a victim of a nearby shooting took refuge in the store Oct. 28. The shooting occurred near 1200 W. Arthur Ave., about 200 feet from the cookie store located at 6470 N. Sheridan Rd., The Phoenix reported.

An Oct. 28 shooting, which occurred at approximately 2 p.m. near 1200 W. Loyola Ave., left two victims in non-critical condition, according to the Chicago Police Department. It isn’t known as of Oct. 29 if any victims were Loyola students. The incident occurred approximately 0.2 miles from the Lake Shore Campus and about 400 feet from The Morgan at Loyola Station, an apartment building owned and operated by the university.
