The heartbroken parents of a baby girl who died after being left inside a car outside her Sydney daycare centre said they are devastated by the loss of their “beautiful girl”. The parents of detained reporter Evan Gershkovich said the release of Australian Chinese journalist Cheng Lei gives them hope as their son approaches 250 days being held captive in Russia. The 32-year-old Wall St Journal reporter was arrested in March 2023 and later charged with espionage – making him the first American journalist charged with spying since the Cold War. “We are holding up, we have no other choice,” Evan’s mother Ella Milman said. “We need to fight for Evan”.
