    Former University of Kentucky student Sophia Rosing has asked for shock probation to shorten her sentence. She has served four months of a 12-month sentence. Rosing was also sentenced to 100 days of community service and a $25 fine after pleading guilty to the November 2022 assault of a student. She was sentenced in October 2024.

    Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced that President Donald Trump has approved public assistance for Kentucky communities affected by flooding in eastern Kentucky. Beshear said he had been pushing for Trump to sign off on “an expedited emergency disaster declaration” to get the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assist the first 10 Kentucky counties impacted by flooding, according to WKYT.

The document from the U.S. Department of Education Acting Assistant Secretary Craig Trainor, dated Feb. 14, was received by UK late that same day, according to Blanton.
