Tampa Mayor Jane Castor is excited about the possibility of bringing the Tampa Bay Rays to her side of the bay permanently. The Rays’ relationship with the city of St. Petersburg has seemed strained as the team searches for a new place to play. But in 2028, their contract with St. Pete is up, meaning they might be looking for a new city to call home.

If a neighbor's tree falls into your yard during a hurricane or tropical storm, you're responsible for cleaning it up and paying for the damage. But K.C. Williams, a Tampa-based attorney, said there are a few instances when the tree owner would be responsible. "If a branch was dying, and therefore leaning on your property, and it was an imminent danger to your property, they may have some liability for damage caused," he said. However, he said that would be difficult to prove in a lawsuit.

One in five people are lonely every day, according to a Gallup poll. In the Tampa Bay area, that number is higher, with roughly 29% of people experiencing loneliness, said Tampa Bay Thrives CEO Carrie Zeisse. While she couldn't say why more people are suffering in the region, she hopes a new initiative will help.

TheOrlando Dreamers are gaining traction in a bid to bring a professional baseball team to Central Florida – and that might impact the future of the Tampa Bay Rays. Initially led by Pat Williams, who brought the NBA’s Orlando Magic to the area in the late 1980s, the Dreamers have been vying for support since 2019. Now, the group has around $1.5 billion committed to getting a team and another billion dollars for a stadium.
