Smyth County heroes of the Revolutionary War received their annual honor this month by members of the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution. General William Campbell, who lived in and is buried in Seven Mile Ford, and his assistant Private John Broddy, buried in Saltville, are honored each year by the General William Campbell Chapter of the SAR, Royal Oak Chapter of the DAR, and Black’s Fort Chapter of the DAR.
