So can we age with grace? That is up to us! Just recently, I realized my mind is still the same but my physical appearance doesn’t match anymore. Reality has sunk in. Sometimes denial can be a good coping mechanism but I have learned not really when it comes to the aging process. If you’re looking for a rewarding opportunity I highly recommend volunteering. My place to go is the homeless shelters. There are so many interesting stories from a diversified group of people there. Many of them have not had the opportunity to tell their story. Which comes first, addiction or rehabilitation? It’s a silly question, I know. Addiction first, then rehab, then relapse, then addiction, then rehab, etc.. It’s a a vicious circle that never changes. That’s the answer unfortunately. I first want to clarify the difference between mental illness and mental health. Mental illness is just that: An illness diagnosed by a psychiatrist or other qualified practitioner. Mental health is just that: Keeping our emotional psychological and social wellbeing in check. How we handle stress is a very big factor. Does mental illness affect mental health? Of course, as does many other illnesses.
