    How I got started at The Daily sounds like a joke. After applying to join my freshman fall, I was overwhelmed by the maze of Slack channels and onboarding to-do items that I simply ghosted. But by freshman winter, desperate to return to writing, a hobby that had accompanied me through my teens, I made some impromptu submissions to The Daily via email. From there, I fell in love with reporting on the arts, and my passion never subsided.

    Communications professor Jeff Hancock, an expert on technology and misinformation, has been accused of using artificial intelligence (AI) to craft a court statement. In November, Hancock — who is the founding director of Stanford’s Social Media Lab — filed a declaration in a Minnesota court case over the state’s 2023 law that criminalizes the use of deepfakes to influence an election. The professor’s 12-page declaration in defense of the law contained 15 citations, two of which cannot be found.

In a Christmas video first lady Jill Biden posted on X last year, tap dancers dressed as flowers, toy soldiers and a mouse boogie to “Danse of the Floreadores” — a jazz reinterpretation of “Waltz of the Flowers” — as they glide through the building’s decorated corridors.

    U.S. REPRESENTATIVE Ro Khanna has raised more money this election cycle than all but one House candidate from California, Federal Election Commission (FEC) campaign finance filings show. Almost all of Khanna’s campaign funds come from individual donors. The 48-year-old representative, who founded the No PAC Caucus, has vowed not to accept campaign contributions from lobbyists or Political Action Committees.
