The tension at the Statehouse Convention Center was palpable just before 11 a.m. March 21, 2025 as 160 senior medical students from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) sat waiting at large round tables to open the sealed envelopes they had just been handed. As the countdown clock on a large screen at the front of the hall ticked down to zero, the students unanimously ripped open the envelopes and peeked inside.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has been designated the state’s only Center of Excellence for implantation of the AMS 700 Inflatable Penile Prosthesis, a long-term treatment option for patients with erectile dysfunction (ED). ED is a common condition that is believed to affect more than half of men between 40 and 70 years old. It has a number of physical or psychological causes, resulting in the inability to get and keep an erection firm enough for sex.
UAMS receives $11 million for gastroenterology clinic, endoscopy center, upgrades to Monroe Building

Four stroke survivors and about a dozen clinicians who work with stroke patients shared insights and expertise at the 2024 University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Stroke Conference. The daylong event, held September 13 in the UAMS Jackson T. Stephens & Neurosciences Institute, was presented by the UAMS Comprehensive Stroke Center to highlight statewide care options and promote optimal care for stroke patients.
