At the end of October 2023, Kim Scott travelled to Adelaide to speak at the Stories from the South Book Club, a public event held at Dymocks, Rundle Mall that focused on his most recent novel, Taboo (2017). I chaired the evening’s conversations, which featured Scott in dialogue with Professor Stephen Muecke, before opening the floor to a discussion with the audience.

In February, the federal Health Resources and Services Administration released a proposal asking companies and nonprofits to compete for the management of the nation’s critical organ donation and transplant system. Iowans who are awaiting an organ transplant and those willing to donate should be aware of how the system will be changed in the coming months. Opening up the network to competition is a logical move, and U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, was instrumental in driving this change.
