    When Leigh Paulseth heard that a special high school lab at the Ontario Science Centre was in jeopardy following the centre’s closing, she sprang into action. “I noticed that we started getting a number of requests for biology labs– specifically DNA fingerprinting,” said Paulseth, science outreach and enrichment coordinator at SciXchange, the TMU Faculty of Science outreach office that runs community programs.

    According to a 2023 study (external link) , different types of workouts can benefit certain types of cognition. For example, aerobic exercise has the biggest impact on global cognition, giving your brain an all-around boost. Resistance training is particularly good for executive function–helping with skills like problem-solving and decision-making. Mind-body exercises like yoga, tai chi and balance training can help boost memory.

    Fifty-seven years ago, John Carlos climbed the Olympic podium and raised his fist in protest for human rights. Today, it remains one of the world’s most powerful political statements. Recently, Carlos, now 79, came to TMU to share his story. In honour of Black History Month, students and community members from across the university gathered at the SLC for a special speaking engagement with the U.S. Olympian. An audience of more than 250 people hung on every word.

    Describe your Career Boost role with Athletics. While I worked in two different Career Boost roles with Athletics, the majority of my time at TMU was spent working as a broadcast crew leader (BCL) on RamsLive broadcasts. During my first year at RTA, I volunteered on the CIS Final 8 broadcasts, and was offered a role working on the first year of the RamsLive program the following season. It was an incredible journey from then on.
