If you’ve shopped for salad greens at Berlin Marketplace or bought a sandwich at Jericho Deli, you’ve likely seen some of the finished products of North Country Growers. But the produce doesn’t just stay in the North Country. The company is shipping its products to markets in southern New England and New York.

    BERLIN — If you’ve shopped for salad greens at Berlin Marketplace or bought a sandwich at Jericho Deli, you’ve likely seen some of the finished products of North Country Growers in Berlin. On an April tour through the expansive greenhouse set back from East Milan Road, Jack Daley, project manager, speaks to about 20 members of the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce. Eight acres of the greenhouse property are under glass with plans to expand to over 12 acres on the site’s west side.

    BERLIN — Jeff Lemoine is the city’s new chief of police, sworn in Monday morning by Berlin Police Commission chairman Marc Tremblay. Police officers from Berlin, Coos County Attorney John McCormick, officials with the county sheriff’s office, several city councilors, Police Commissioner Pierre Morin, friends, family and other law enforcement representatives attended the ceremony.

    BERLIN — With the fiscal year 2026 budget nearing final approval and the decision coming down to the wire as to whether to go with a budget that adds 57 cents per thousand-dollar valuation to the tax rate or cut $440,000 from the city and school side to avoid a tax impact, councilors may feel they are between a rock and a hard place. The current tax rate is $30.89 per $1,000 valuation.
