FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The summer solstice coincided with an historic night of tornadoes and extreme winds in the Red River Valley. One tornado was deadly, killing three people in rural Enderlin, ND. Intense straight-line winds, clocked as high 111 mph and estimated up to 120 mph caused extensive damage in many areas. For some, those intense winds lasted over an hour. In addition, very large hail fell with one viewer sharing a photo of a hailstone up to 4 inches in diameter.

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - From the Cass County Sheriff: At approximately 11:40 p.m. on 06/20/25, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to rural Enderlin for tornado damage to a residence. Once deputies arrived on the scene, the Enderlin Fire Department let them know that storm chasers had located two deceased people as a result of the tornado.

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - At approximately 11:40 p.m. on 06/20/25, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to rural Enderlin for tornado damage to a residence. Once deputies arrived on the scene, the Enderlin Fire Department let them know that storm chasers had located two deceased people as a result of the tornado. Shortly after learning of this, the Enderlin Fire Department was dispatched to another location, and a third deceased person was found as a result of the tornado.

FRIDAY- SUNDAY: A strong upper-level ridge will roll through the Rockies and Central Plains between Friday and Sunday, lifting warm air from the south into North Dakota and Minnesota. Skies will remain hazy with few clouds. By Friday PM, the smoke aloft begins to mix down to the surface. Thick smoke is likely Saturday into Sunday. Air Quality impacts are likely with unhealthy levels of smoke.

MONDAY: Patchy fog kicks off our Monday morning. We otherwise will be mostly clear and sunny, and morning lows will be in the mid-60s. WEDNESDAY - THURSDAY: Wednesday morning lows will be cooler as high pressure settles into the region bring some cooler air and clear skies. Lows will generally be in the 50s, although some north could dip into the upper 40s. The afternoon hours will bring plenty of sunshine and help to boost temperatures back into the 70s along with light winds. Thursday morning looks to be cooler again with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.

TUESDAY - WEDNESDAY: A few showers and rumbles remain possible on Tuesday. Temperatures will be warmer with a bit more sunshine allowing highs to warm into the mid and upper 70s to near 80. Tuesday will be a bit breezy with winds out of the SSW gusting in the 25 mph range. Wednesday will be calmer offering a break from the rain. Morning lows expected to start in the upper 50s near 60. Sunny skies will lead to warmer weather once again with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY MONDAY: We are looking to start off another week with active weather. For Monday all of our region has a chance for severe storms. Most of us are in a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) for severe weather, but arears south of I-94 are included in a Slight Risk (level 2/5) for severe weather. Isolated showers are expected throughout the day on Monday before the storm threat enters in the afternoon sticking around into the overnight hours.
