Getting comfortable on the long gray leather couch, Birge could not be more thankful for the year he just completed. “To get this kind of response and to get to close the year that we had, which was the wildest one in my life with ‘Cowboy Songs’ being a No. 1 song, I’m a pretty happy guy right now,” he says.

If spreading Christmas cheer were a sport, Sophia Scott would be at the top of the leaderboard. The Colorado native, who recently released an upbeat version of “Winter Wonderland,” thrives during the holiday season. “We’re a big Christmas family,” she tells American Songwriter. After releasing “Last Christmas” last year and “Winter Wonderland” this year, Scott has hinted at plans for a full Christmas EP in the future, a further example of her passion for the holidays.
