Twenty-two-year-old Pennsylvania Alternate Dairy Princess, Morgan Larson, just graduated from Mercyhurst University in Erie this May with a degree in management and a minor in accounting — and she’s already working full-time as a teacher. Larson teaches tourism and hospitality management at Erie County Technical School, which is the same class she attended as a high school student. She is also working on her master’s degree in organizational leadership as part of Mercyhurst’s 4+1 program.

A new art exhibition, “Majestic Rural Pennsylvania,” is now on view for free at The Gallery, 15 N. Water Street, through May 24. Meadowbrook Christian School’s production of “The Wizard of Oz” was a heartfelt and family-friendly interpretation of a classic — with quite a few surprises sprinkled along the way. What a delight to see “Newsies” come to life at Warrior Run High School – the musical featured accurate period costumes, talented lead actors, synchronized ensemble choreography, creative set design, a live orchestra, and even a few faculty members. “Newsies” is based on the New York City newsboys’ strike of 1899 protesting the unfair labor practices and newspaper price hikes instituted by newspaper mogul Joseph Pulitzer.
