NHS imposter visits patients at home in Saltash

Police have issued a warning about a man who has posed as a healthcare worker and visited two homes in Saltash. Devon and Cornwall Police said the man, who called himself Gerry, who phoned two residents, said he was from the NHS and arranged visits to their homes. Staff at Port View Surgery said one of the patients had been visited by the imposter after he had called to "enquire about their condition".

The name Harlyn was chosen for the hedgehog sculpture because of its "Cornish emphasis" [Truro City Council]There is a new addition to the group of award-winning wooden hedgehogs stationed on a roundabout in Truro. Truro City Council has introduced the newest member of the family on Trafalgar roundabout as Harlyn. A spokesperson said he was now "part of the family with his parents Denzel and Patricia, brother Cyril and sister Kizzy".
Man charged with assault of women and children

A man has been charged with assault after two women and two children sustained "significant" injuries, police said. Devon and Cornwall Police said it received reports of a woman having been assaulted at a property on Foliot Road in Plympton at around 17:00. They were then told a second woman and two children had been assaulted on Crossway and believed the incidents to be connected.

Drivers are being warned of icy roads as some schools have closed amid sub-zero temperatures. A yellow weather warning for ice remains in place until 11:00 GMT. An ambulance has been called after five cars were reported to have been involved in an accident on the A30 near Illogan at about 07:50 GMT, causing both westbound carriageways to be closed, police said.

Members of the public have been invited to a hearing on the planning brief for the east coast of Guernsey. The Local Planning Brief identifies opportunities for development in the St Peter Port and St Sampson Harbour Action Areas. The hearing is the latest stage of an independent planning inquiry which has to take place before the States can decide whether to accept the brief as an amendment to the Island Development Plan.
