According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2022, an estimated 1 in 31 children were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder by the age of eight (an increase from 2020, when it was 1 in 36). Public health officials said that it's important to know that the medical world has learned a lot more about autism in recent years, which has led to a heightened awareness of the disorder.
