Father-of-three Paul Doyle, 53, is accused of seven offences following the incident on Water Street in the city centre on Monday, which resulted in 79 people suffering injuries.

A former Royal Marine commando was last night charged with mowing down and injuring fans at Liverpool FC’s victory parade. Paul Doyle, 53, will appear in court today accused of seven offences, including dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm following Monday’s carnage. Some 79 people were injured, including four children, when the married father-of-three allegedly tailgated an ambulance through a roadblock and ploughed into crowds celebrating the Premier League title win.

The 53-year-old man arrested by police over the Liverpool parade ramming has today been charged with seven offences including multiple counts of grievous bodily harm. Paul Doyle, from West Derby on Merseyside, has been charged with dangerous driving, causing GBH with intent, wounding with intent to cause GBH and attempting to cause GBH with intent.

The man being questioned over the horror at Liverpool Football Club's victory parade is a former Royal Marine commando who was dropping a friend off as a favour when he ploughed into fans, it emerged today. A close friend told the Mail that the 53-year-old 'panicked' when his car was surrounded by supporters, who opened his car door and 'grabbed his throat.''He was trying to get out of the parade and he has panicked,' the friend said.
