The City of Fort Pierre approved a Water Treatment Expansion Study with West River Lyman Jones at a quick meeting on Monday afternoon. However, there is a catch: Fort Pierre is paying the majority of the cost of the study. West River Lyman Jones (WR/LJ) Rural Water is Fort Pierre’s current water supplier. In 2023, they told Fort Pierre that they would no longer be able to supply water for the city effective 2032. Since then, Fort Pierre has been scrambling to find alternative water sources.
