A judge will allow 13 Princeton University to exchange community service and a letter of apology for dismissal of trespassing charges filed against them during pro-Palestinian campus protests last year, a local advocacy group said Wednesday. The 13 students occupied Princeton’s Clio Hall in April 2024 during days of tense protests on the Ivy League campus designed to push the university to divest from Israel. They students were removed from the building, arrested and charged with trespassing.

Seven New Jersey colleges are once again ranked among the best in the world. U.S. News and World Report evaluated more than 2,250 schools from more than 100 countries for its Best Global Universities list released Tuesday. Harvard University ranked No. 1 in the overall best global university ranking. It was followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University and two British universities — University of Oxford and University of Cambridge.

Educators who teach hard-to-staff subjects in more than 400 eligible New Jersey schools have a few more days to apply for up to $20,000 in student loan help from the state. Teachers who specialize in several subjects — including math, science, special education, English as a Second Language, Career and Technical Education and world languages — can apply to receive up to $5,000 a year in student loan forgiveness if they work in a school with a history of low performance on state tests.

Dexter Buchanan, wearing a pastel pink suit, worried out loud that he might have been over dressed for a graduation held in honor of LGBTQ+ students’ on Friday at Columbia High School in Maplewood. But once on stage and after shaking hands with the many officials who came out to the district’s 9th annual Lavender Graduation the compliments made it clear — the suit was a hit. After several adults spoke, including school principal Frank Sanchez, it was time for graduates’ open mic.
