Cora Miller has a vision. Her artistic journey began in Hardwick, MN, when at the young age of five she was already an avid drawer. Homeschooled through the eighth grade, she took advantage of the time this allowed for creative expression. Upon entering high school she discovered graphic design as well as more traditional art forms, such as pottery and printmaking. Emerging as a well-rounded artist, Cora went on to attend Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato to study graphic design and art history.

A COMMUNITY group that works to reduce isolation among older men has moved to a permanent home reports the BBC. Aveley Men’s Shed held an open day at the historic water pumping station at Davy Down near North Stifford, on Thursday. The group will hold carpentry and joinery workshops where men can learn new skills and meet like-minded people. The pump house, which was in use until the 1970s, is being loaned to the group by Essex & Suffolk Water.

Recently I read a letter to the editor by a nice lady whose name I have forgotten. It was in regard to plowing our local streets. Mind you, I moved here in 1963, so I have experienced many Alaska winters. Her thought was that our mayor was doing a good job, and we should stop complaining.
