    On April 2, 2024, Mequon resident, Deborah Lakritz, finally saw her debut middle novel, “Things That Shimmer,” come into the world. The journey from idea to publication took 25 years. Lakritz said the idea came to her early on in her writing journey and was based on  elements of her childhood. Raising five children took priority, however, and so she often had to set it aside. Still, the idea never left her, and she worked on various drafts throughout the years.
