Nolensville cross country and track and field star Claire Stegall might be the best high school athlete in the state, regardless of sport or class. With her senior year of track and field still yet to be completed, the University of Florida commit has already won seven state titles when factoring in both of her sports (three in cross country, four in track and field).

Think back to where you were as a junior in high school. You may have been prepping for the ACT or working your first full-time job. The soon-to-be 18-year-old Blades Brown kicked off 2025 by deciding to forgo his college golf career (and his senior year at Brentwood Academy) to make a jump to the professional ranks directly out of high school. It was a logical move for the three-time state champion. Last summer, Brown made the cut during his PGA Tour debut, placing 26th at the Myrtle Beach Classic.

It’s always tough to single out just one MVP in Williamson County for a given high school sports season. When you play in arguably the most talent-rich county in the state, there are options across every sport that deserve mentioning. For the 2024-25 year, we settled on Class 6A Mr. Football winner Donovan Starr of Ravenwood.

Although Page High School came up just short of its ultimate goal of winning a state football championship in December, falling to Sevier County 27-20 in the Class 5A state title game, the Patriots’ senior class left a lasting mark on not only the program, but Tennessee high school football as a whole. The Page seniors closed their careers in Rudderville by making it to four-consecutive state championship games – rarified air in the competitive Class 5A field.
