    PEARL – Mississippi State returns to Trustmark Park on Tuesday for its annual non-conference game against No. 23 Ole Miss known as the Governor's Cup. The showdown between the instate rivals is slated for a 6 p.m. start on SEC Network+. The Diamond Dawgs have claimed the past two Governor's Cup games and lead 11-5 since the midweek series moved to the former home of the Mississippi Braves in 2007. MSU also holds a 24-19 advantage since the Mayor's Trophy/Governor's Cup series started in 1980.

    STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's Ross Highfill was tabbed to the midseason watch list for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award. Highfill has started 23 of the 27 games that he has appeared in this season, 21 of which have come behind the plate. The 6-foot, 200-pounder is hitting .213 with two doubles, a triple, two home runs and 13 runs batted in. He also leads the Diamond Dawgs with nine steals in 11 attempts on the year.

    STARKVILLE – Mississippi State baseball is coming off back-to-back SEC series victories and will be going for a third when it welcomes Florida to Dudy Noble Field on Easter weekend. The Bulldogs took two of three from South Carolina at home two weeks ago before traveling to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and garnering pair of wins from the then 12th-ranked Crimson Tide. MSU's series with the Gators begins on Friday at 7 p.m. on SEC Network and carries into a Saturday contest at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
