    One of the suspects in a recent robbery turned deadly has been indicted for multiple charges-including a second degree murder charge-by a Boone County grand jury. 20-year-old Byron Sampson is being charged with second degree murder, among other charges, for the death of Taquan Reed on Oct. 10. Sampson allegedly struck Reed with a stolen vehicle after an attempted robbery, according to a probable cause statement delivered by officer Adam O'Dell. Reed later died as a result of his injuries.

    Warm Springs Ranch has released the dates for its seasonal "Holidays with the Clydesdales" experience with dates beginning in two weeks. The ranch will offer reservations Thursdays through Sundays starting Nov. 15 and ending Dec. 30, as well as two Mondays: Dec. 23 and 30. The ranch will be open from 5-8 p.m. and will be accepting two groups of 750 visitors for 90-minute time slots.

    A Columbia man has been indicted by a Boone County grand jury for the overdose death of a woman in June. 30-year-old Zachary Muro was indicted on multiple charges-including 2nd degree murder-by a grand jury on Friday, Nov. 1. Muro allegedly provided the woman a gram of fentanyl, which led to the woman overdosing and dying as a result. Muro was pulled over by Boone County deputies on a later date, where he was found possessing six grams of fentanyl.

    The city of Auxvasse is set to begin water line inspections to determine which lines contain lead or copper. The city, in collaboration with All Clear Pumping and Sewer, will begin to inspect water lines starting Monday. The project was mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency and Missouri Department of Natural Resources in 2021 and requires all U.S. water providers to identify the material of their service pipes by the end of October.

    The Columbia Police Department is opening the doors to its own police academy in partnership with Lincoln University. The police academy will allow CPD to train future officers in-house for the first time since the department's establishment in 1826. The collaboration with Lincoln University comes after the Columbia City Council unanimously approved the partnership in August.
