The Los Angeles Dodgers witnessed Shohei Ohtani set the tone on the first pitch. Yoshinobu Yamamoto then kept the Cleveland Guardians in check with his pitching. But Dave Roberts opted to avoid pushing him to the fullest. Yamamoto fired heat in six innings and took the win, as L.A. defeated Cleveland 7-2 on Memorial Day. The Dodgers’ top pitcher even outran a bunt. He could’ve gone further considering how masterful he threw. Roberts, though, avoided exerting him.

The Minnesota Timberwolves lacked having the aggressive Anthony Edwards from Saturday evening. Edwards settled for just 16 points in 41 minutes as Oklahoma City held on 128-126 Monday. Edwards hit an attack mode in Game 3. He exploded for 16 first quarter points that sparked the 143-101 rout to avoid the sweep. He dropped 30 points in only 30 minutes. One Edwards dunk even drew “chills” from teammate Jaden McDaniels.

Through a reverberating three-word chant that also got Doris Burke to react. “SGA” took to the free throw line during the first half. The fans did more than raise their voice. They bellowed out “free throw merchant” at the NBA Most Valuable Player.
