Vermilion, too, has faced its share of challenges, including 2 periodic closures of its emergency department due to staffing shortages. The Vermilion Health Care Centre’s emergency department has often been strained by non-emergency cases, leading to long wait times and overburdened doctors.

On December 11, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of the Kalyna Country Primary Care Network (PCN) at Unit C, 5008 - 51 Ave in Vermilion. The event also marked the launch of two new private practices within the clinic: L.A. Health, a practice led by Nurse Practitioner Lynette Adamson, and Inner Strength Wellness Therapy, a counseling service founded by Canadian Certified Counsellor Vanessa Boe.

Christmas magic soared to new heights in Vermilion this year, thanks to a group of dedicated local organizations determined to ensure kids’ letters to Santa Claus were delivered and replied to, despite challenges posed by a Canada Post strike. On December 15, the Vermilion River Flying Club, along with their cheerful helpers—A Cup of Tea Financial, Rusylvia Transport, and other volunteers—embarked on a mission to save the season’s most important mail.
