WIGAN’S two-try hero Grace Banks has praised her forward pack for laying the platform the Warriors needed to race away to a 44-14 Challenge Cup semi-final win over Leeds Rhinos. Banks showed speedy footwork to score in each half at York on Saturday as Wigan secured their first ever Challenge Cup final appearance. Of Wigan’s nine tries, only two were scored by forwards – Megan Williams and Emily Veivers – with backs Anna Davies (two), Georgia Wilson, Molly Jones and Isabel Rowe getting the others.

YORK VALKYRIE coach Lindsay Anfield is confident her side can make it third time lucky when they face reigning Challenge Cup holders St Helens at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Sunday. The two sides met at the same stage of the competition in both 2023, when a last-minute field-goal won it for Saints, and 2024, when York were up against it from the start after a sickness bug ripped through the squad in the build-up, putting players out, while others carried on despite feeling below-par.

York Valkyrie boss Lindsay Anfield has finally got her star after signing former Leeds Rhinos and England forward Zoe Hornby. The 26-year-old left the Rhinos in July after almost four years with the club, in which time she scored 29 tries in 45 appearances, including two at Wembley.

York Valkyrie boss Lindsay Anfield has paid tribute to Megan Pakulis, who has left the club with immediate effect to join Gold Coast Titans. The 28-year-old will head to Australia later this week to join the NRLW side as they begin their pre-season preparations ahead of the new campaign kicking off in July.
