Work is set to begin on a new Invercargill City Council housing project on Millar St after the site was blessed this week. Waihōpai Rūnaka representative Evelyn Cook performed a karakia and whakawātea (blessing) on the council-owned land where six new homes will be built. The construction is the second stage of council’s Housing Innovation Project after four units were completed on Stirrat St last year as part of its long-term policy to replace and increase social housing for elderly people.
